Emily: I think it’s funny watching you have to say ‘Lazarevic’.
So, I can’t sleep, and I’m rifling through Steve’s Twitter pictures again. Why am I only seeing this now and why can’t I contain my squeeing?
Steve: When I went in to audition, I read with Nolan, and I didn’t realize he was — he just kept improvising, wasn’t doing the lines back to me that were on the script. I was getting so pissed off because you were like, going off page! And I’m like, “I’m trying to audition, keep to the page, what are you doing?” But it all worked out in the end.
Nolan: Yeah, but, sometimes that’s the best read you’re gonna get…is somebody who’s really gonna give you the thing. Give you back something that’s real, you know so it’s not just off the page. And you were one of the few people who actually did that. He actually played, and it was just—
Steve: That was actually the plan, so you can see what happens.
Nolan: Yeah, ‘cause we would do the first one as written, and then kinda just go off, and you were like, one of the only people who would kinda laugh and go with it.
Flynn always had that little element of sarcastic humor, which I really enjoyed. I mean, there was those little moments when I’d pull out the guns, and I’m like, “All right, calm down, Gandhi.” It’s just, you know, those little bits of irreverence, which as you play the game, you’ll find are kind of misleading in some ways — which is kinda fun, you know?
